Laughing Man Coffee: Fair Trade And Organic!

Posted by Becka 0 comments

A few years ago, I saw the documentary Hugh Jackman did, on the time he went to Africa. The title was Dukale's Dream and it followed Hugh over the course of time, finding the perfect coffee, but also seeing how hard coffee farmer work, to bring you your favorite coffee.

After completing this, Hugh went on to create the Laughing Man Foundation, bringing fair trade and certified organic coffee, to those that only want the best!

I started drinking Laughing Man Coffee over a year ago, since it was harder to find until recently, when it was in my local grocery store, as well as my local Target. I also have a monthly subscription through Keurig, so I am sure to have enough of my two favorite Laughing Man flavors:

Hugh's Blend:

A delicious blend of green apple and toasted graham cracker.

Dukale's Blend:

A bit of a tribute to Dukale, featuring chocolate and plum.

The Laughing Man Foundation, gives back to the coffee farming communities and helps grow organic and fair trade practices. Currently, they are partnering with Fair Trade USA, to help coffee farmers in Colombia. Read more about them HERE

Also, not only does Laughing Man produce amazingly delicious coffee, their cups are completely environmental friendly.

In all, if you are looking for a delicious coffee as well as a way to help the environment and fair trade coffee farmers, next time you are out, look for a box of Laughing Man K-Cups, or a bag of Laughing Man Roasted Flavors.

They slo now have a ONLINE SHOP, so you can support the foundation in other ways!

If you are in the New York City Area, visit one of their two locations:

Oatly: Vegan Oat Milk!

Picture this, Sweden 2016. Way Out West Music Festival. I walk in and I am handed this little brown

box. Not knowing that my life will be changed forever!

Now, I always loved oatmeal and I am one to try almost anything (I will never try Surströmming).

I fell in love!

The little brown box from Oatly, was liquid heaven! It is 100% Vegan, which I am not, but I have

never met a Vegan food or drink I didn't love, delicious, low fat and just all around amazing.

Based in Sweden, they took years of research and perfection, to come up with the final product. I am

sure they will say they are working on ways to improve, but unless they make it gold, I am not sure

how they could possibly do that! (If you want to know more, click the link above to check out their

quite informational site!

For 2 years, I was waiting, somewhat patiently, for their product to reach the shores of the US. As

soon as I was going to just move to Sweden, it shows up in my local Target! (I was happy, but I

wouldn't have minded moving to Sweden for this!)

Of course, I had maybe 2 cups, before my children devoured it! So, I am off to buy more! Check out

their OATFINDER, to locate this yummy goodness near you!

Siggis Icelandic Yogurt

Posted by Becka 0 comments

A year or so ago (how can I keep track, I love this stuff!), in a search for something different, I found

Siggis Icelandic Yogurt. Now, I am picky with yogurt. I am not sure why, but I have always been that

way. So I picked up a few flavors. Vanilla, Raspberry and Blueberry. Thus starting my love affair for

all things Siggis!

The texture is perfect, it has active cultures and the flavors, that I have tried, are not too sweet, like

many other brands. And, with Siggis, you have a multitude of different products to try!

These yogurts are perfect fo snacks, sides, lunches and more. In fact, my favorite thing to do with

Siggis Vanilla Yogurt, is to mix it with avocado and bread it on my toast. Not only is it delicious, but

it keeps me full until dinner time! (which is great, because I usually skip lunch anyway!)

One could also use them in any recipe, where you want to substitute an ingredient for yogurt. I

guarantee, it will make whatever you are cooking or baking, taste amazing!

For those that want 0% fat Yogurt, you have these:

For a little more, at 2% fat Yogurt:

Side note: I have yet to try that last one. And, for anyone who knows me, knows I LOVE Ligonberry!

Its the Swede in me!

For a fuller, 4% fat Yogurt:

Strawberry Rhubarb is my favorite kind of pie, so I hope to try this soon!

There is even a 4%, no sugar added:

Triple cream, which sounds like pure heaven!:

This one, their Simple Sides, is one I am hoping will be in my local grocer soon. It looks perfect for a

snack or to bring to work for lunch! And these tubes are perfect for a kids after school snack, or in

their lunchbox!:

And this, which I am not sure of, but its Siggis so, of course, I will try it!

Filmjölk (sour milk)

I hope to try all these products, as my local grocer only provides a limited amount of Siggis products.

I also hope, in the future, they open a shop. I saw a Siggis Hoodie (I do love my hoodies!) and asked

them about it. Sadly, they did not have them (yet), but they were amazingly sweet and sent me a

beautiful Siggis Tote! (And included CUTE stickers, coupons and a postcard, with a recipe to try! Thank you guys!!)

So go out, buy some Siggis, I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

New Name, New Look!

I decided my blog needed a makeover. I have neglected it too long. So here it is, my little slice of imperfect perfection. (Its all perspective!)

I have rejoined a few blog networks and found a few new ones! Hopefully, I will be able to do more with my blog, that has been around since 2010, redone and done again :). Finally, moved in 2013 and now, rebranded.

Thanks for joining me in this crazy journey!

When Depression And Suicide Hit Home

Posted by Becka 0 comments

I know it's been over a year since I have posted. I got a job, then another. Its been a busy year. But something happened to my Crypt Family this week, that I needed to blog about.

This week I lost a dear friend to suicide and the world lost a beautiful soul. Sonny was an

amazing friend, a compassionate human being, devoted father and a loved member of the horror

genre world.

He was a member of our believed Crypt Family, which, thanks to horror director/actor, Eli Roth,

brought horror actors, film makers and lovers of the genre together. Sonny loved all things horror and

loved being a part of our beloved family.

Sonny was always there with a helping hand, a compassion that no one can surpass, a kind

word, life and love advice or just to lend a listening ear. He knew everyones loves and dislikes. Most

importantly, he loved his baby girl. She was his world, his life and his heart. He would move heaven

and earth for her.

But Sonny was suffering from a great battle with depression. Depression doesn't discriminate.

It doesn't care if you are poor or rich, what color you are or what sexual orientation you are. Sadly, it

can consume you, take over your life and not let you think coherently. You can not just "get over it"

or "try to be positive" and hope it goes away. It is a chemical imbalance in the brain that can consume

every part of your life, no matter what or who you have in it.

Sonny knew he had so, so many friends and family that loved him. But sometimes, it can be

too much. Like Robin Williams, it doesn't matter how happy you may seem on the outside, on the

inside, you can be falling apart. It doesn't matter where you are in life, if you have everything or

nothing. Depression is deeper than most people can really understand.

Depression is not being sad once in a while. It is like trying to be happy, but your brain just

won't let you. It is crying over nothing and everything all at once. Feeling like you can't get out of bed

because you just don't want to face the world. A feeling of constant discord with everything.

If you know anyone that may suffer from depression or anxiety and they show signs of possibly

wanting to end their own life, please, guide them, encourage them to seek help. Never speak down to

them or tell them that they have to just do this or that to feel better. No amount of sunshine, yoga,

eating better, etc... will make depression go away. If you fear for their safety, there are many options

to get them help.

Please, if you know anyone that may need these services, call. Even if they may become upset

at you now, they will thank you later. I, personally, wish I had done more for Sonny. Talked with him

more, consoled him better and especially helped him more, when I saw that he was getting so down

that it was scaring me.

We love you, Sonny. You will always be in our hearts and you will always be part of our Crypt Family.
