AT&T Brand Ambassador

Posted by Becka 0 comments
For a few months now, I have been participating in the AT&T Brand Ambassador programs, to learn more about upcoming features, phones, and other ideas they are coming up with.

I recently got contacted to try out a Windows Phone (still waiting on whether or not I am picked)

Either way, while looking at this particular phone, as much as I love my iPhone, this phone is a perfect...for lack of better words...mom phone! It has the capability to let you manage your time, social networks, calendars, and more right from the home screen, without having to search through a bunch of apps!

I hope I am selected for a year of service to try out this phone. Not saying I would give up my iPhone, but one never knows!!!!

It's not over (Amazon!)

Posted by Becka 0 comments
I have gotten a couple messages like this...The people on the FB boycott group say if you call you can still order it. No official word from them yet.

Apparently it is not over! I have joined THIS FACEBOOK PAGE to boycott Amazon!

A journalist FB "friend" also said that there were more like that book all over Amazon. Good reason to keep the boycott going. They need to realize that children are browsing their site for Christmas gifts, birthdays, etc... I don't know about you, but I don't want my 11, 7, or 3 year old coming across something like that accidentally!!

So I am off to join the crusade to boycott Amazon, and wish I knew about this sooner, before preordering a book for my son! I would have gone to Borders instead!

Dear amazon, this is NOT a Freedom of Speech issue!

As of this morning, this book is no longer on the site! But that does not mean that they wont try it again once this all cools off!

So, I WAS going to write another glowing post about baby sign language, and the growing number of instructors Wee Hands has gotten since I first joined.

But then, on my moms group (I don't want to mention the name, because of the nature of the post, and not wanting them dragged in to it lol) someone posted THIS BOOK. WAIT don't click on that yet! The title of the book??? The Pedophile's Guide to Love and Pleasure. Yes , you read that right! For under $5 you can have it delivered right to your Kindle.

I have one word for this! DISGUSTING! This is WAY beyond a freedom of speech issue. In fact, it is even against their OWN guidelines!

"Titles sold through the Digital Text Platform Program must adhere to all applicable laws. Some Titles that may not be sold include any Titles which may lead to the production of an illegal item or illegal activity."

So why in the world would Amazon.com, a renowned source of books, music, toys, etc... used by BILLIONS of people, even let this book through?!?! Would they be held accountable, if someone claimed to have used this book to do harm to another person? Would they take any responsibility whatsoever if there was a death, rape, child endangerment issue, etc... or would they just blow it off and say it was the consumers fault? Last I knew, you can be an accessory to a crime, if you helped someone commit it in any way, shape or form.

I am just SO disgusted by Amazon selling this book! I now wont even download the FREE album I was going to. There are about 30 pages of negative reviews for this book and, according to some for the reviews, Amazon is deleting some of them!  They may be a big time company, but they wont be very much when their customers all go somewhere else! That is almost 300 commenters, and counting (more each time I load the page). That 300, which I am sure are not all in one place, can easily reach 3000, then 3 million...and beyond!

Not too smart Amazon. What else would we find that you are promoting (which is basically what they are doing when letting this book be sold) that would constitute promoting illegal activity?!

Ok, now, go to the link above and comment away! Get this book off Amazon! Every parent, aunt, uncle, and anyone who love children should be outraged at this book!

Seriously, people!?!

Posted by Becka 0 comments
So, I read THIS article on Twitter, then Facebook, and finally on a moms site I am on. The mom blogs about dressing her son in what HE wanted to be for Halloween...Daphne from Scooby Doo! I, personally think he looks ADORABLE and now I am secretly hoping my 3 year old wants to do that next year...because he would make a pretty girl lol. (Heck the whole time he was in the hospital this week, people kept calling him a she!)

But the reactions of the "moms" at her son's preschool appall me! Some of the things I have seen are:

My husband would never allow it (to that, I ask, what issues does your husband have, that make him feel threatened by his PRESCHOOL son dressing as a girl?)

I would try to persuade him to wear something else (fine, but when he is in college and his friends go dressed as Rocky Horror, he wont want to tell you!)

Wont he turn gay? (ha, funny, I have heard this about breastfeeding! Why are we SO scared of our kids turning gay? If my son was, at least I wouldn't have to worry about him getting anyone pregnant lol)

Those are my top 3 lol. Seriously folks, in a world where we try to teach our kids to accept people for who there are, there sure is a lot of contradiction in a lot of things!

Honestly, I am really scared for the children of these...parents...if these children ever try to come to their parents with the "mom, dad, I think I'm gay" revelation. I am sure that they will be accepted...not...

They can come to me lol. I will love my kids for who they are no matter what! too bad there are some parents in the world who have only conditional love for their kids.

So, to the mom who wrote the original blog, I commend you, and all moms like you...and tell those other moms where to stick it! You have the cutest Daphne I have EVER seen!!!!
